A leader in mobile power solutions, Delta Star is the premier manufacturer of mobile substations renowned for their compact, durable, and reliable design in all conditions. Delta Star Transformers Inc. (DST) contacted LDV Consultants Inc. (LDV) to perform a finite element analysis simulating an electric arc in the N2487 transformer.
Mandate
The deliverables provided by LDV include:
Determine the design pressure of the transformer.
Confirm that the weak link in the transformer structure is located at the cover.
LDV performed the analysis in accordance with Hydro-Québec's technical specification “SN-14.1k, Part 1, Appendix A (normative): Digital Test Guide.” Following the analysis, it was determined that the transformer meets the criteria set out in the reference document.
