The requirements
Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is partnering with GE Vernova to carry out a 15-year project to renovate the iconic 1.7 GW Sir Adam Beck I and II hydroelectric complex near Niagara Falls. This project involves replacing the existing gate cover system with a new gate cover system that includes new covers, a new electrical system, and additional safety, operational, and maintenance features to facilitate day-to-day operational tasks.
Mandate
The deliverables provided by LDV include:
Design, purchase, build, deliver, and install new retractable hatch covers for 6 generator units and 2 mounting bays;
Design, supply, build, deliver, and install all mechanical support components (e.g., speed reducers, drive chains, etc.) for the new electrical system;
Design, supply, construct, deliver, and install a new electrical system for all hatch covers.
